Pittenger statement on federal court blocking Obamacare expansion
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CONGRESSMAN PITTENGER STATEMENT ON FEDERAL JUDGE BLOCKING GOVERNOR COOPER’S ILLEGAL OBAMACARE EXPANSION
WASHINGTON – Last week, Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) and Congressman Richard Hudson (NC-08), along with seven additional North Carolina Congressional colleagues, urged the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to reject North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper’s illegal proposed Obamacare expansion, citing multiple state laws outlining Governor Cooper’s lack of legal authority to unilaterally expand Obamacare.
Over the weekend, a federal judge agreed with the letter’s position and suspended Governor Cooper’s illegal attempt to expand Obamacare. Congressman Pittenger issued this statement:
“Governor Cooper’s brazen attempt to expand Obamacare was a slap in face to North Carolina voters,” said Congressman Pittenger. “State law clearly prohibits any North Carolina Governor from unilaterally submitting a Medicaid expansion plan. Fortunately, our system of checks and balances prevailed and has saved North Carolina taxpayers an estimated $600 million annually in the process.”
