CONGRESSMAN PITTENGER TO MEET WITH ISRAELI PRESIDENT AND PRIME MINISTER, PALESTINIAN PRESIDENT
CHARLOTTE – On Saturday, Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) departs on a rigorous, fact-finding trip to Israel as part of his duties as Chairman of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare.
Accompanied by Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Congressman Pittenger will attend private meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Shimon Peres, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. He will also meet with top religious leaders (Jewish, Muslim, and Christian) and visit hot spots including the Golan Heights. Congressman Pittenger is particularly interested in his meetings with Israeli security officials, who have extensive expertise in combating terrorism.
“Terrorism and unconventional threats like chemical weapons and cyber attacks are now the greatest threat to America’s national security,” commented Congressman Pittenger. “By learning from Israel’s anti-terror experience and meeting with leaders from both sides of the conflict, I’ll be better prepared to create legislation to protect Americans from these threats.”
Upon his return from Israel, Congressman Pittenger will continue his series of August town halls with meetings in Matthews (August 21st), Ballantyne (August 22nd), Mooresville (August 26th), Cornelius (August 28th), and Waxhaw (August 29th).
