On Thursday, March 28th, Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) will formally announce the “Kilah Davenport Child Protection Act of 2013.” This new federal legislation will ensure that those who commit heinous acts against children are punished appropriately.
“Children are precious, but in too many states, the punishment for severe child abuse is shockingly mild, almost a slap on the wrist in some states,” said Congressman Pittenger. “The punishment needs to fit the crime.”
Congressman Pittenger will be joined at the announcement by the Davenport family and grassroots supporters who have been fighting for tougher penalties in cases of severe child abuse. The community is invited to show support with Kilah and her family.
