PARKWOOD SENIOR RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS APPOINTMENT TO U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY
CHARLOTTE – Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) is excited to announce that Stephen Harold, a senior at Parkwood High School, has received a prestigious appointment to the United States Air Force Academy.
Mr. Harold had the unique experience of growing up in two cultures, as his parents faithfully serve in Indonesia with the JAARS missionary organization.
“My hope is that I will one day be able to build on the skills I have learned through my cross-cultural experiences and be further molded into a competent, versatile leader and officer through the Air Force Academy,” explained Mr. Harold. “I am inspired by the many men and women who have given their lives for the freedom we enjoy, and I want to follow in their footsteps as an officer in the Air Force, willing to serve for the rest of my life in order to protect the many freedoms my friends, family, and fellow citizens enjoy every day.”
Mr. Harold is the son of Timothy and Tammy Harold and lives in Waxhaw.
“As we face global challenges, Stephen’s cross-cultural experience will be an invaluable asset to the U.S. Air Force,” said Congressman Pittenger. “Stephen comes from a family dedicated to service, and we are grateful he has chosen to continue that legacy.”
Mr. Harold is one of seventeen local students to receive prestigious U.S. Service Academy appointments for the 2016-2017 school year. Local students interested in applying next academic year should contact Congressman Pittenger’s office at 704-362-1060 as soon as possible.
