Common Sense Suggestions for Keeping Your Home, Family, and Business Safe

WASHINGTON – Knowing that Americans are less likely to panic during a crisis if they have prepared and made plans ahead of time, Congressman Robert Pittenger has released a Terrorism Preparedness Manual for families and small businesses.

Congressman Pittenger (NC-09), who serves as Chairman of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare, developed the preparedness manual in cooperation with qualified experts and retired military officers, including nationally-recognized experts on counterterrorism, cyber-security, and protecting your personal information.

“Hardworking Americans must recognize that we are the ultimate target of many terrorists, including ISIS and al Qaeda.  We must not give in to fear, but we must also be prepared for chemical, biological, nuclear, and kinetic attacks, as well as necessary steps to protect our personal and small business electronic communications and data from sabotage through cyber warfare,” said Congressman Pittenger.

“This preparedness manual offers specific, common sense suggestions for preparing your home, family, and small business to mitigate the impact of a terrorist attack and respond with appropriate steps and antidotes.  Being prepared will help blunt the impact of any terrorist attack, and make it easier for first-responders to focus on those with the most critical needs.”

The Preparing Your Home, Family, and Business for Terrorist Attacks manual is available at, or by contacting Congressman Pittenger’s office at 202-225-1976.
