Pittenger: Obama focused on socialist policies, not healthy economy

CONGRESSMAN PITTENGER: PRESIDENT OBAMA FOCUSED ON SOCIALIST POLICIES INSTEAD OF BUILDING HEALTHY ECONOMY
WASHINGTON – Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) had these comments after listening to President Obama’s State of the Union address:
“President Obama wants to create more jobs for bureaucrats by increasing the size of our already bloated government. Republicans want to build a healthy economy that creates opportunity for hardworking taxpayers.
“President Obama wants to keep his hand in your pocketbook, keeping more and more of the money earned by hardworking, taxpaying Americans to pay for his one-size-fits-all government programs that interfere with your private life. Republicans want you to keep more of the money you earned and help create opportunity for new jobs.
“Increasingly, President Obama is focused on policies consistent with socialism, such as tonight’s plan for income redistribution. President Obama wants to rob Peter to pay Paul, instead of creating better jobs and economic opportunity through common sense tax cuts and regulatory relief.
“Two years ago, Republicans and Democrats agreed on a simpler, fairer tax code that eliminated many of the loopholes and special deductions for the politically-connected. President Obama killed that proposal and instead demanded $1 trillion in additional taxes. That’s your hard-earned money President Obama wants to play with. Now is the time to hold him accountable.
“In addition, President Obama’s reckless and feckless foreign policies have left our country more vulnerable to radical Islamist terrorists and emboldened a provocative Russia and China. America and the world are secure when America stands strong.”
Congressman Pittenger is Chairman of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare, Member of the Financial Services Committee, Member of the Republican Whip Team, and Co-Chair of the bipartisan United Solutions caucus, which is focused on common sense tax reform, eliminating government waste, and restoring fiscal sanity to Washington.
