Pittenger on Travel Ban Reinstatement
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CONGRESSMAN PITTENGER ON SUPREME COURT DECISION TO REINSTATE KEY PARTS OF PRESIDENT TRUMP’S TRAVEL BAN
CHARLOTTE – Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) had this statement following the Supreme Court’s decision to reinstate key parts of President Trump’s travel ban in the name of national security:
“The Supreme Court today performed a solemn duty too often ignored by lower courts. They issued a ruling based on the law, not on political activism. Ordinary Americans already knew what the Supreme Court today reminded the lower courts: The federal government and the President have responsibility for national security, and a thorough vetting of refugees is part of that responsibility.”
Congressman Pittenger serves as Chairman on the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare and Vice Chairman of the Subcommittee on Terrorism and Illicit Finance. In 2015, Congressman Pittenger co-sponsored and helped pass the American Security Against Foreign Enemies Act (H.R. 4038), which would have required the FBI, CIA, and Homeland Security to be engaged in the refugee vetting process to prevent access by infiltrated terrorists.
