CONGRESSMAN PITTENGER ON ISIS THREATS: WE MUST TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY
WASHINGTON – In a video update to constituents, Congressman Robert Pittenger today addressed ISIS threats against Washington, concerns over Syrian refugees, and his legislation to better track American citizens traveling to Syria to join ISIS.
“They have already declared that Washington is their next target. We must take them seriously in every way. We need to realize that America is their ultimate target.”
As Chairman of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare, Congressman Pittenger has joined Homeland Security Chairman Mike McCaul in sponsoring legislation to increase oversight and security procedures before refugees are admitted to the United States, and worked with Readiness Subcommittee Chairman Rob Wittman (House Armed Services Committee) to introduce legislation to better track American citizens traveling to Syria.

“We have great sympathy, particularly for those religious minorities, Christians and others, who are there and caught in this crisis. But we need to do this because we cannot allow those to come into our country under the auspices of being a refugee and really they are a terrorist fighter.”
