FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CONGRESSMAN PITTENGER TO HELP LOCAL STUDENTS CONNECT WITH WEST POINT, NAVAL ACADEMY, AND AIR FORCE ACADEMY

WASHINGTON – This month, Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) has announced Congressional appointments that will send several local students to West Point, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

This Saturday, Congressman Pittenger invites local middle and high school students to find out if they have the “right stuff” to receive their own appointment in the future.

Congressman Pittenger has invited representatives and cadets from West Point, U.S Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and U.S. Coast Guard Academy to make presentations and be available for one-on-one meetings with local students.  Congressman Pittenger’s staff will also be available to discuss the rigorous nomination process.

  • CHARLOTTE:  16th Annual U.S. Service Academy Day, Saturday, April 14th, 10 a.m., Charlotte Catholic High School (7702 Pineville-Matthews Rd., Charlotte, N.C.).
  • FAYETTEVILLE:  U.S. Service Academy Day, Saturday, April 14th, 4 p.m., Fayetteville Technical Community College, General Classroom Building, Rooms 114 & 109 (2817 Fort Bragg Rd., Fayetteville, N.C.).

“We should be humbled to recognize that top local students actually compete for the opportunity to devote at least nine years of their lives in service to the United States,” said Congressman Pittenger.  “For many, this is a lifelong dream, and I am honored to help them get a head start on the Service Academy process.”

Both events are open to local middle and high school students (public, private, homeschool, charter) as well as their family members, counselors, and educators.  For more information, contact Congressman Pittenger’s Charlotte office at 704-362-1060.
