FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HONORS FOREST SERVICE OFFICER JASON CRISP

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously agreed to name a McDowell County Ranger Station in honor of U.S. Forest Service Officer Jason Crisp, who died in the line of duty on March 12, 2014.

Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) and the entire North Carolina Congressional Delegation worked together to co-sponsor and advance the legislation.

“Officer Crisp put his life on the line every day to protect you and me,” said Congressman Pittenger.  “We’ve been told he spent up to half his time out in the woods, searching for dangerous suspects.  While this memorial will never erase the pain his wife and sons must live with, we sincerely hope this honor brings them comfort and helps future generations remember a brave man and warrior.”

Officer Crisp and his K-9, Maros, were shot and killed while approaching a homicide suspect during a manhunt in Burke County.

H.R. 4360 designates the Ranger Station at 109 Lawing Dr. in Nebo, North Carolina, as the “Jason Crisp Forest Service Building.”  The legislation now goes to the Senate for approval.
