CONGRESSMAN PITTENGER TO BE ACCOMPANIED BY WOUNDED WARRIOR DURING STATE OF THE UNION

Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) will be accompanied to tonight’s State of the Union address by Army Specialist William Armstrong, Jr., a Wounded Warrior currently recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Congressman Pittenger’s wife, Suzanne, gave up her seat in the House gallery to allow Specialist Armstrong the privilege of seeing his Commander-in-Chief in person.
“Our men and women in uniform are our real superheroes, the ones our children should look up to,” said Congressman Pittenger. “Going to the State of the Union with Specialist Armstrong is a tremendous honor, and I look forward to getting to know him better this evening.”
Specialist Armstrong was wounded last July while fighting in Afghanistan, near the Pakistani border. He joined the Army in 2010 and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2011.
The Armed Forces Foundation introduced Specialist Armstrong to Congressman Pittenger. For more information on the Armed Forces Foundation, visit armedforcesfoundation.org.
