CONGRESSMAN PITTENGER EXPANDS DUTIES
Continues as Chair of Terror Task Force, Adds Whip Team, RSC Steering Committee, and Increased Role on Financial Services Committee

CHARLOTTE – Congressman Robert Pittenger’s leadership, commitment to service, and strong work ethic has been recognized by Congressional Leadership, resulting in several key assignments for the 114th Congress:

  • Congressman Pittenger continues as Chairman of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare, a role he was first assigned in 2013.  His first term included planning and hosting the Parliamentary Intelligence-Security Forum, a first-of-its-kind gathering of more than 100 Members of Parliament, Ambassadors, and officials from 28 European nations to discuss Intelligence, NSA, and privacy safeguards, as well as strengthen relationships in the fight against radical Islamist jihad.
  • Majority Whip Steve Scalise (LA-01) appointed Congressman Pittenger (NC-09) to serve as a Member of the Whip Team, where he helps secure passage of common sense legislation focused on building a healthy economy, financial independence, and holding Washington accountable.
  • Congressman Pittenger has been appointed by RSC Chairman Bill Flores (TX-17) to serve on the Steering Committee of the Republican Study Committee.
  • Congressman Pittenger will continue in his role as Co-Chair of United Solutions, a bipartisan caucus focused on tax reform, eliminating government waste, and restoring fiscal sanity to Washington.
  • Speaker of the House John Boehner reappointed Congressman Pittenger to a second term on the House Financial Services Committee, where he will serve on the Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit subcommittee and the Monetary Policy and Trade subcommittee.  Chairman Jeb Hensarling (TX-5) has also asked Congressman Pittenger to take a leadership role in efforts to combat terrorism financing.

A 2013 analysis by the Washington Examiner found that Congressman Pittenger has one of the best committee attendance records in all of Congress, ranking “top 6” out of all 435 Members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

“The people of the 9th District elected me to serve, and I am committed to working hard on their behalf every day, and usually, well into the night,” commented Congressman Pittenger.
