CONGRESSMAN PITTENGER TRAVELS TO LATIN AMERICA TO INVESTIGATE NEW AVENUE FOR TERRORISM FINANCING
CHARLOTTE – Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) is traveling to Latin America this week for a series of meetings with foreign leaders to discuss efforts to combat terrorism financing.
“The nexus between radical Islamist terrorists, Latin American drug lords, and Iran is a growing threat to America’s national security,” said Congressman Pittenger. “We know that terrorist organizations are using Latin America as a conduit for financing. We need to find out what additional tools and resources are necessary to target and cut off this financing, and to sever this tentacle of evil creeping into our hemisphere.”
Congressman Pittenger is Vice Chairman of the Financial Services Committee Task Force to Investigate Terrorism Financing, and Chairman of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare.
